About Neuquén
Neuquén province is a study in contrasts. The capital city is a prosperous, modern hub driven by oil and gas (Vaca Muerta, one of the world's largest shale formations). But drive west toward the Andes, and you enter some of the most pristine mountain scenery in Argentina. San Martín de los Andes is often called 'the quieter Bariloche' — a charming mountain town on Lago Lácar that offers all the outdoor adventure without the tourist crowds.
